When an Airbnb review is not 'retaliatory' (and what to do instead)
Many hosts file a damage claim, get a harsh review, and assume Airbnb will remove it as retaliation. Often it won't. Knowing what doesn't count saves your limited removal requests for reviews that really break the rules.

Usually not enough on its own
A bad review after a damage claim
Timing alone rarely proves retaliation. Airbnb looks for proof the review was used as pressure or revenge.
Honest complaints
A guest describing their own real experience, even unfairly, is usually allowed.
Low star ratings
Ratings without text that breaks a rule are hard to remove.
Opinions you disagree with
"Overpriced" or "not as clean as expected" are opinions, not policy violations.
What can make a review removable
Threats before the review, content about things unrelated to the stay, reviews from someone who never stayed, discriminatory language, or private information. These point to a specific policy and are much stronger grounds.
If it can't be removed
Write a short, calm public reply that future guests will read: thank them, state the facts once, and say what you changed. Then focus on getting more good reviews, which pushes one bad review down.
